Sebastien Gros

Born and bred in Chamonix, France, which is often described as the mountaineering capital of the world, I fell in love with the mountains at a young age. Following my grand-father's footsteps as a "guide", I started skiing before I could walk and competed in cross-country ski races in my teens. I moved to the south of France to study but always came back to "my" valley and even if I keep exploring the world eager to learn about new cultures and people or dive in all seas, I finally decided there will not be any other place for me to live. I knows the Chamonix ski areas and trails like the back of my hand.
I have a Master in Sport, Tourism and Local developement and am fully qualified as both an Alpine Ski Instructor, and as an International Mountain Leader.

Based in Chamonix, Megeve and Courmayeur, I started teaching ski in 1995 and worked for 15 years at the Chamonix French Ski School where I specialized in teaching disabled people. I have been guiding people on hiking trails since 1998 all around the Alps, working for the famous Chamonix Guide Company. I am passionate about trail running as it allows me to explore new places. I have run the famous GR 20 in Corsica, the Swiss Alps, Mallorca, south of Spain, Crete and off the beaten track in France. When I am not in the mountains, I lecture in mountain environment to high school students to prepare them to become future hiking guides. I am very qualified to enhance your mountain adventure with my knowledge of the flora, fauna, geology and traditional culture of the Alps.Fan of Trail running and cycling, outdoor is a way of life.

I will be glad to make you discover my region in complete safety and to help you improving your skills on skis and on the trails.

Seb is brilliant!!!
My family (party of 8) first met Seb as we attempted to hike the Haute Route in August 2017 - although we were all very active people, it was the first real week long route through the mountains so we needed a fair amount of guidance. He was fantastic! He gave us time to rest when we needed to, powered on when we had to, he was extremely knowledgable and was constantly telling us lots of interesting facts about the area!
We had great fun and on our last day there was an unexpected snow storm so Seb guided, not only us, but the all the guests staying in the mountain hut, safely down an a disused underground passage to the bottom!! Demonstrating his callibre as a guide!
We have also been on 2 ski holidays in Chamonix  with Seb as a guide following our Summer trip and both have been brilliant!
Couldn’t recommend him more!
Legend!
