Where to ski ?
Winter seems to arrive, finally !
The crazy storm cycle continues, and it is snowing again! Today Wednesday is the first time we have been seen the sun since on week, and despite the high rain line over the weekend, the snow line has been dropping  and it  dumped in the Chamonix valley bottom all night long. We enjoy a short weather window (till tomorrow morning)  before the next wave of weather comes in...
In Chamonix valley, because of strong storm and high winds, most of the lifts stayed closed, except Les Houches, and the small chairlifts at Flegere. Les Houches is definetely the best place to go, having fun through the trees in a safe area (about 20-30cm of fresh light powder)
Megeve ski resort is now open almost everywhere with 40cm of fresh snow on top of Rochebrune and Mont d'Arbois !
Courmayeur also had a few lifts running, and apparently there was a similar amount of fresh snow since the rain at mid station.
High avalanche risk !
The avalanche risk is still going to be very high in the Chamonix ski areas: 4 out of 5, so off-piste is going to be pretty dangerous, especially if the wind drops and more of the lifts open up.
So even if the weather seems to be better (and colder !) next weekend, keep safe before going off-piste. Ask the ski patrol team or go and talk with professionnals in Maison de la Montagne at La Chamoniarde.
